This is not the most effective way to practice.

Instead, teach your students some Practice Tricks!

We can give them specific strategies for mastering their pieces.

Students need our help to learn more effective practice techniques. The Practice Tricks are a collection of simple practice strategies that your students can use. You just give your students a copy of the printout, explain a strategy, and ask them to use the strategy when they practice.

It is SO worth the time investment to coach students on how to practice. And we’ll be most effective if we teach, review, and emphasize practice strategies often.

Teachers can ask students to use at least one trick from the list every week, and report back which trick they used.

Better practice brings more progress and enjoyment at the piano.

Better practice can help students master their pieces in a shorter amount of time.

More progress is more fun and fulfilling for the student.

And piano teaching is more rewarding for the teacher when students are progressing!
