I've wanted to make a pin punch piano activity for years.
I've noticed how much my own kids enjoy pin punch activities, and thought it would make a fun and unique off-the-bench activity. I'm excited to share this holiday-themed, kid-approved piano lesson activity with you!
How does it work?
First give the student a rhythm card and a pushpin.
Instruct them to use their pushpin to punch a small hole where each circle is on the rhythm notes.
When the student has completed the pin punches on their card, help the student tap the rhythm and see if they can identify the Christmas song.

The song cards help students match their rhythm to the correct Christmas song.
When the student has completed the pin punches on their card, you can display the song cards.
The student can then tap the rhythm on their pin punch rhythm card and match it to one of the song cards.
You get 2 versions of the activity
To best meet your needs, this resource includes two versions:
- A version with colorful graphics
- A black and white version with no graphics to save on ink
